Title: Exercise and ectopics
Post by beadbabe on Aug 24th, 2007, 8:01am

Hi all
In something of a rash moment when I forgot about my heart for a little while I went into the garden thsi afternoon and really got stuck in to heavily pruning, well, sawing branches off a tree in my garden. After about 20 minutes it hit me that I was really exercising hard and my arms shaking. But then I thought of my heart and how fast it was going. Really fast so it must have been quite strenuous. But it didn't feel fast weird like palpitations and ectopics do. Why do palpitations fast heart rates feel so different to a normal fast heart rate.

Of course now I have finished I am starting to think I was a bit rash because I am worried about some kind of rebound effect after exercise. Is this likely? am I in for a worse time than usual?

I sort of wish I hadn't gone out there now because now I am starting to think I have chest pain - but you wouldn't get that after exercise - wouldn't you get that during?

err, anyone?

I do exactly the same, about everything bead.  I know how you feel.  In fact i have just had a tiny little glass of Baileys and i am now beginning to worry about having it!  I used to be able to down the stuff without it affecting me at all, now i only have to sniff it to make me more dizzy, lol. ::)
But i also know how you feel about doing something strenuous too.  I was putting stuff away in the caravan earlier and i didn't notice my heart beat at all, just the odd ectopic, then when i came in the house i was all sweaty and hot and i had a pain in my arm, and started to worry.  But my bp was fine and my heart was ok, i suppose.  Sometimes i can just stand up and my heart can be doing 120, and i'm not doing anything and i can feel it all over my body and in my ears, bashing away.  Then i can be rushing around, not as likely now a days however, and i don't even notice it, but if i check it, it really is bashing away like a good un.  If we don't notice it we are fine, but because of how we are, we DO notice it, which is the problem really.  Like i have said before, if my heart was going 120 or if i was having lots of ectopics in the day and night and i COULDN'T feel them, then i wouldn't care at all.  But they worry me because i can feel them so much, and i just can't let go worse luck.  I hope you are ok and will speak to you soon.xx

Hi

I do this too, but by thinking about it too much you are getting yourself all worked up and then the likely hood is that you will get some.  It's good you were out there it shows you are ready to get over this and try and live a normal life.  If I have had a mad 1/2 an hour where we stick some dancy music on and I'm dancing around the living room like a mad women the next day I get quite a few missed beats, but I think thats because my body isn't use to be being that active?
My mum kindly had my children overnight Friday and me and my hubby went out for a meal (at a no children allowed place) I had a pimms and lemonade, then we went onto the cinema and I'd had probably far to much chocolate, Malteasers a Mars Bar, 3/4 of a big bag of malteasers at the cinema, and a Chocolate Brownie at the restaurant.  That evening in bed my heart was really poundy and a little faster that normal, but I kind of knew that would happen as chocolate and alcohol are not a good combo!

Try not to worry, your ok and well done for ignoring them, you should be patting yourself on the back thats a big step into getting on and ignoring them

Kath x

thanks for the replies.
I had a good weekend with my mum volunteering to look after my two boys. Managed to go out for a meal for the first time in about two years on our own. Which was quite enjoyable despite me worrying about it beforehand. I actually remember sitting htere looking out the window thinking well, this was nothing to worry about. But as soon as I left the restaurant my heart immediately started racing - well over 100 for about 20 mins.
I just can't work it out.
