Title: What helps??? Post by jason on May 9th, 2010, 11:22am I know lots of you have lived with palpatations off and on for a long time. So I was curious what you have actually found helps to reduce them. I know the biggest thing must be to realize and actually believe 100% that they are just a nuisance and of no danger at all. But are there other things which have been found to help too? Not eating late? Relaxation? Exercise? Really appreciate anyones input :) |

Title: Re: What helps??? Post by George88 on May 10th, 2010, 10:37am I have found that giving them time helps the most. Eventually you will come to the realisation that these palpitations are just a nuisance rather than an actual problem. I used to be absolutely terrified by mine but eventually I just got used to them and barely pay any attention to them now. |
Title: Re: What helps??? Post by daybyday on May 10th, 2010, 6:35pm One night I was fed up and got bold and told my heart to stop dancing around. And it did!!! Sometimes I take a quarter piece of Rolaids. Though that may be purely placebo. :) Other nights I change positions, or sit up reach for my toes, stretch my spine imagining it relaxing and releasing tension and kinks. Then lay back down gently. Anyone else have them act up more at night when you want to just fall asleep? |

Title: Re: What helps??? Post by jason on May 11th, 2010, 12:39am Thanks for all the tips, really appreciated. Anyone else got some more? Interesting to see that nobody appears to think exercise helps, and no mention of any supplements or camomile tea , breathing exercises, yoga etc |
Title: Re: What helps??? Post by Kalah on May 11th, 2010, 9:53am Exercise definitely helped me... I had bad palps for 3 months on end once, I took up daily walking and they would be bad the first 5 minutes of the walk, then stop (or almost stop) after that. After a couple weeks of daily walks they stopped coming altogether except maybe an occasional flip flop here or there. I went from hundreds to thousands of palps a day to maybe 1-5 a day. On some days I have none at all (at least that I notice) :) |
Title: Re: What helps??? Post by Typer on May 14th, 2010, 10:48am These are my own tips that help sometimes Suck a mint Drink/sip some very cold water try to belch to release pressure Be aware of your breathing and slow it down Splash face with cold water Here are some yips from the people on the facebook group and from NMP Daily walking/excercise as above Taurine (someone says they stopped after taking this supplement) A banana a day Magnesium Relaxation tapes Might be the supplements above help with nerves or something? Phil cured his with cider vinegar because it cured his indigestion and heart burn which were causing his.
