I have received my 24hr ECG test results and would like advice as to exactly what it means?

The review comments detail a Nocturnal Bradycardia with a sinus rhythm heart range of 47-112bpm.

It also details 2 SVEs, frequent isolated VEs with 3 couplets and 37 short runs of trigeminy.

please can someone interpret this for me?

What i meant to ask (while i'm waiting to see my Doctor) is if its a casue for concern regarding my health??

Hello Bob and welcome to the forum.

Nocturnal bradycardia is quite common and constitutes any rate below 55bpm.

SVEs stand for Supra-ventricular ectopics, or atrial palpitation events, and are merely associated with the benign palpitations which likely led to wearing the Holtor monitor. VEs are ventricular ectopics, again entirely benign in your instance. Couplets, or bigeminy and trigeminy are actual misleading in this context and are more relevant to pathological arrhythmias. People tend to throw these terms around based on the report results but realize that the computer which interprets the recording is only deriving the results based upon algorithms programmed into its database. It is unable to clearly interpret a benign form from a pathological one, only that the signals technically represent a pattern similar to the one it's designed to detect or make comment on its presence.

The events you are experiencing are merely being induced by stimulation of the heart by the vagus nerve. It's sort of kin to a muscle twitch that you might experience elsewhere in the body, except in this case its simply the heart being stimulated by a wayward signal. Benign heart palpitations are quite common, entirely harmless and are one of the hallmark characteristics associated with significant stress or anxiety. They are not a warning sign of an impending cardiac event of any type and, in fact, are entirely incapable of producing such an outcome. They cannot harm or fatigue the heart muscle in any respect.

While they are certainly frightening, they do not actually have any capacity to do you harm.
