Title: quick question Post by boringdanielle on Dec 28th, 2010, 1:08pm Does ectopic heartbeats cause panic attacks? Also is anyone else's worse at night when they lie down? |
Title: Re: quick question Post by Andrea on Dec 28th, 2010, 5:54pm Well, I can only speak from experience but... the first time I had palpitations I ended up having a full blown panic attack with hyperventilation, trip to the Emergency Room, and the whole deal. Did the palps cause me to have a panic attack? Maybe. I think the scaryness of having palpitations for no reason caused me to panic, which led to the panic attack. They do catch you off guard, and you're sitting there thinking "ok my heart is doing something it's not supposed to, this can't be good" and it just spirals out of control and before you know it you're freaking out. It could be that line of thinking that is leading you into panic mode. I am almost certain that was the case with me. But whether or not they simply cause panic attacks for no reason or as a function of the nervous system is probably a question for RLR. Hope that helps a little :) |
