Anyone take this? I have been on trazodone but felt horrible on it so my gp wants me to take this sertraline but the pharmasist has put me off as he said it can cause stomach problems and that is what my problem is all the time severe painful intestines which has now lead to this anxiety any ideas carol

I take Sertraline and honestly it was the only thing that really helped me. I did have an adjustment phase which lasted the typical 6 weeks with slightly increased anxiety and physical representations.

I fought through the adjustment period and I am so glad I did. It was the most calm I have been for a loooong time. Now that I'm weaning off, I'm nowhere near as calm.

Give it a shot I say, everyone reacts differently. If you don't like the symptoms you can always try something else. But, do remember you have an adjustment period for these kinds of meds.

I did not fare well with sertraline. I could not make it through the adjustment period and I had to stop taking it. It made me extremely jittery and I couldn't sleep. My mom took it for many years with zero problems. She had the most difficulty coming off of it.

It's truly different for everyone.

The only way you can know if something will work for you is to give it a try. You can always stop taking it and your doctor will prescribe something else.

I hope it works out for you, being on the medication merry-go-round is no fun.

Okay, the main issue upon early administration of sertraline is simple nausea that typically dissipates with continued treatment. It is more tolerated in older, rather than younger, patients.

The constellation of pain in your adbomen is related to the IBS and constitutes one of the most common reasons for presentation to the doctor's office. Zoloft would not produce any features similar to those associated with your condition.

It's also important to remember that virtually all medications will demonstrate some degree of unwanted side-effects in some persons, but not all persons. Taking these drugs and experiencing any degree of side-effect is as simple as having the prescribing physician make dosage adjustments or another drug in the same class capable of producing the desired outcome.

We've spoken before on this topic and like many anxiety-stricken individuals, you become trapped by your symptoms on one side and side-effects of medications on the other. Being in purgatory is the most difficult position of all to try and maintain. Surely at some point, you'll find that any risk of side-effects will become increasingly less of a worry by comparison to the discomfort that your symptoms seem to present.
