Title: Ectopic Beats feel different at different times Post by 27pence on Jan 20th, 2011, 4:13am Hi Everybody, I have got to the stage now with palpitations and rapid heart rates, where I know that it is just stress or anxiety driven, otherwise I would be dead by now. This is great, however whenever I get an ectopic beat, it can make me feel very uneasy, not because I think I about to die, but because it makes me feel very uncomfortable, a bit like tooth ache would. I have read a number of posts on the matter by who would seem to be the guru - RLR. My question is why is it that ectopic beats or whatever the correct neurological terminology is can feel different a different times. Because I am less nervous about them I just get a funny feeling in my chest throat and back, a bit like an air bubble is trapped. But when I got very nervous, they could feel very painful, especially in the back, a the kind that was a massive thud stop you in your tracks. Or when at night your heart was "skipping a beat - made worse that I felt my jugular and could feel the momentary pause, will my heart start again feeling". I am convinced however that to those people who are worried, try not to be, and just think do you think about your heart when you are not nervous, and is the frequency of ectopics less. Anyway, as I said I still get the odd feeling in th top part of my body a couple of times a day but not as intense, just like a muscle twitching in my chest |
Title: Re: Ectopic Beats feel different at different times Post by Jennifer on Jan 22nd, 2011, 12:57pm Hi, there! I don't know the answer to this, but I have often wondered the same thing! Sometimes I feel a palp in my upper chest, then maybe left side, maybe near my diaphram, or the middle of my chest -- and each with various degrees of severity at different times. It is interesting ...but can be confusing. I find myself worrying which one of these is the one to be concerned about? I think mine are emotionally driven -- I've experienced a lot of grief in the last 3 years as well as life stressors. I have more roads ahead of me and I don't want this to slow me down anymore than it already has. Thinking of you and I hope someone can answer your question! |
