Title: Skipped Heart Beats for 15 - 20 years
Post by sgreen1234 on Jan 26th, 2011, 12:20am

I have had skipped heart beats for about 15 - 20 years. Back then I was evaluated with ECG's and a holter monitor and was told they were harmless, benign and not to worry. As a consequence I have just done that but over the years they have got steadily more frequent (I was told they would get more with ages also!). Recently I have started to worry about them again (I am now 46) and continue to wonder if the diagnosis made all that time ago still applies or whether I should go back and risk opening up a can of worms. Otherwise I feel fine, no chest pains, breathlessness, weaknesses or other associated heart symptoms. i go to the gym regularly, with no ill affects - although my skipped beats are still apparent even when trianing. I am an anxious person and feel under stress just about all the time. They are definitley worse when stressed. Should I just carry on like I have for the last 20 years..........most of the time I can ignore them?

Just to make you feel a little less anxious about them, I would see my doc and have another ECG and Holter, just to be reassured that the docs and their gear don't see anything scaring now after all these years. Which they probably won't ...
