Title: Honey/Grapes Post by Don on Jan 29th, 2012, 8:37am Hi Again, In response to my earlier post, I have read that both Grape juice and honey are natural ways to limit or cure night time palpitations. Also, coughing hard apparently shocks your heart to beat normal again. As I am new to this, I refuse to self diagnose on the internet and would like advise from folks like you who have gone through what I have and I need your help. Never having this happen to my before has me on complete edge. Any feedback from you would be greatly appreciated. I know a large portion of this is anxiety related and I do not want to take Lorazapam for it. If I can do this naturally all the better. Bless you all and hope all works out for you also. |
Title: Re: Honey/Grapes Post by lee on Jan 29th, 2012, 9:33am You have anxiety... You are fine.. Get off all meds and eat right, exercise, and get plenty of rest. Medications cause more problems sometimes than they solve. Anxiety can be a bear but try to relax and live life to the fullest. I know what you're going through. You will be fine. Have a good day... |
Title: Re: Honey/Grapes Post by Don on Jan 29th, 2012, 10:10am Thx lee, I know I bring allot of this on myself but i will be honest I felt better with higher blood pressure than when I was on the meds and it was lower. I can do most of the lifestyle changes on my own. Not to mention losing 8 pounds just taking my daily glass of wine off the dinner table. Just need to relax. What have you done in the past that may have workd for you? |
Title: Re: Honey/Grapes Post by mbajd on Jan 30th, 2012, 5:56am I used to drink wine a few times per week and started having HORRIBLE palpitations right before Christmas. So, I quit drinking wine and also stopped caffeine (I now only drink decaf coffee) and the palpitations drastically reduced to less than one per day. Well, this weekend I thought I'd have a beer and guess what - palpitations started happening again! I really think I need to avoid alcohol and I am going to do so from now on. It's not worth feeling horrible. Also, I drink tea with honey every night and find it very soothing. Another thing that's REALLY helped me is Xanax. If I didn't take it I'd be a mess, so the benefits outweigh the costs for me at least. |
Title: Re: Honey/Grapes Post by martinpetersen on Feb 1st, 2012, 9:58am For me not eating too much and too late at evenings has had a good impact. And also reducing - but not quitting totally - red wine. It has been mentioned many times here that "events" in the GI-system can initiate heart palpitations through the autonomous nervous system and the vagus nerve. These events, I believe, might be things like getting stuffed by too much food, air inside, increased pressure, too much alcohol that might (?) make you digest slower. And - after having been checked and my heart found ok - WHEN palpitations occur, I know they are not dangerous. Guess that knowledge helps too. Good luck. |
Title: Re: Honey/Grapes Post by Typer on Feb 4th, 2012, 10:37am Its strange because apart from the odd one or two as I drift off to sleep, I dont seem to get them at night. I've always wondered why some get them more in the day and some at night? |
