any words of help appreciated   thanks  carol :(

Hi Carol

I've had this before, where I'm having a good time and them bam it happens.  It's probably where you were walking about then sat down.

You've probably had this before and your still here!   :)  I'm having a rough time too at the moment feeling anxious weird beats or feelings, but I have to remember that for me it's the time of the month and this in turn heightens my anxiety, which irritates my stomach which in turn gives me wind, and then the wind and irritated stomach irritates my Vagus Nerve. Try to think logically I know it's hard, especially with not knowing the results of your tests, which I'm sure will show that everythings normal.

This time of year as much as it's enjoyable is also quite stressful, Your fine try to put that episode behind you as hard as it is but the more you worry about it the more you're keeping yourself anxious, try to think positively and look forward to this time next week.

Enjoy yourself this christmas and new year x

Kath

Well, this is certainly nothing to worry about but as I've stated on the forum to many members, the ingestion of caffeinated products like tea are a good way to exacerbate the presence of palpitations.

Teas are not only caffeinated, but also generally a little tougher on the GI tract, particularly if it's already sensitized by stress. Caffeine can increase peristalsis and with it, movements of air through the lumen of the intestines. This is the point where you'll likely experience palpitations if they're going to occur.  So the take-away message is stay clear of caffeinated beverages until you get your situation under control.

Best regards and Good Health

Hi cazza,

Well, you are in good company here. All of us have been having this terrible problem and it really helps when you read and re-read all the palps 101, all lthe parts. Sometimes when I am having a difficult time with my palps I come here and read posts and re read the palps 101 and it helps me so much!  You will feel better again.

Okay, we're missing part of my message where coffee and tea are tough on the GI tract even in the absence of caffeine. We all like our habits and it's a hard one to break, but I can tell you through experience that these products go a long way to irritate an already sensitized GI tract.

Best regards and Good Health

Hey Cazza  :)
Please feel reassured that this is an uncomfortable nuisance and nothing more.  I personally have been dealing with daily heart skips for almost three years.  Of those three years I have had maybe 2 or 3 months total where I didn't feel any.  I am currently having tests done to alay my own fears and not because my doctor feels that anything has changed since the last time I was tested.  My son heard my heart 'stop then start' while he was hugging me then he panicked and I felt it appropriate to address this with my doctor again.

I sometimes wonder if we ever feel 'normal' with these?  You might notice some days that you are too busy & distracted to pay attention to the palpitations.  Then there are other days you just surrender to the 'skips' and allow you mind to wander to all kinds of scary scenerios.  I have been told so many times and it is so true, we are still here.  Even after days of 100's to 1000's of palpitations we are still alive & healthy.  It's not easy to believe but these cannot kill us nor shorten our lives.  EVERYONE gets palpitations, we are the extra sensitive ones that (unfortunately) feel them.

Take it easy Cazza, try to not worry.

Hi

I've often felt like that in the past, "When am I ever going to feel better", But I do still have rough times but it does get better, I've learnt to accept that they may never completely go.

If you make sure you stick to a strict routine of what you are eating and drinking and when, then you will start to feel better, not straight away but you will, try to push all those negitive thoughts from your head as quickly as you can and think of something more plesant.  Thats what I've been doing and even though I feel rough at the moment it is getting better.  I've had to cut out all caffine, (except chocolate can't quite stop that one completly but am cutting down) no fizzy drinks at all, no spicy foods not even pepper! and no alcohol, only the occasional small glass of rose. It's horrible as I look at what my hubby is drinking and eating and think cor I could really drink that or eat that, and it's so tempting sometimes but you must be strict, I do notice if I eat what I call rubbish all day then I feel bad.  Oh and drink lots of water, I use to hate the taste (even though theres not one really) but I've got used to it and now I choose it over juice and tea quite a bit.

Hope you feel better for christmas

Kath
