Menopause
Feb 05th, 2007, 8:00am

I'm relatively new to this forum so please bear with me if this is old stuffSmiley

My GP has said she thinks my ectopic heartbeats are related to increased anxiety levels  to do with my body starting to go through the menopause. I would say that there are times when I don't cope as well with life and I've always put this down to hormones but now that my body is changing I definitely feel different. Its hard to be specific but I've certainly lost confidence with certain things...like driving. I used to drive anywhere without much thought but it worries me now. I still do it because I won't be beaten but its different now. I used to love flying...it scares me now. I used to love socialising but I can't be bothered now...people irritate me.
I suppose what I'm trying to ask, is there any information about the link between ectopics and the menopause. If its already been discussed previously, could someone point me in the right direction please.
Many thanks.
Toni

Try this site.  There seems to be a definite link.

Many thanks Beanie. Very interesting stuff. Perhaps I'm not losing it after all!

Hi Toni
I have always thought my palpitations were in someway connected to the menopause, mainly because I always used to get them prior to a period  and sadly they continued with breaks through my life up until now - you will find, if you get hot flushes, that they go hand in hand with hot flushes. If you get anxious that can also bring on a hot flush and then palpitations. I like you had lots of confidence but that has wained affecting driving, flying and social life. I like many on this site can get breaks from them but they do come back and if I sit and think about it it is usually at a time of anxiety or the effects of menopause. I think just visiting this site will help you a great deal, just by reading the posts  and knowing you are not on your own.

Take care, Sue

Thanks ,Sue, for your story. It truly does help knowing someone else in the same position as you. Don't know why but it does!
Its funny but this morning I have had episodes of dizziness with a couple of ectopics after it then...nothing. Dead wierd but nothing too awful to deal with.
Take care
