RESEARCH INTO THE CAUSE OF ANXIETY DISORDERS
Jun 18th, 2007, 2:21pm

This is just a brief posting to inform you about recent ongoing research that is looking into the potential for certain enzymes in the body to cause conditions of anxiety to occur. We have identified two such enzymes, glyoxalase-1 and glutathione reductase-1, that when manipulated, are capable of inducing high states of anxiety in animal models under study.

This is actually very good news because it may provide us with a direction to proceed in preventing anxiety from occurring rather than attenuating its after-effects with medication. You can visit the following link to learn more:

Interesting. It is widely recognised that certain breeds of dogs are more "highly strung" than others, so I suppose it is only natural than some humans are genetically predisposed towards anxiety than others. I don't think my anxiety is genetic though - I have taught myself to be anxious and it's certainly true that you get good at what you practise. Mine's nurture not nature.
