Aug 03^rd, 2007, 11:50am Lately i have been having horrible flutters sort of like my heart is not beating at all! I have been doing fairly well ignoreing my missed beats which i have everyday but these ones are making me worried again i dont wont to go backwards again! had so many flutters today i just felt like going to hospital any advice appreciated thanks carol

Have you checked if it is in your pulse, i know i feel flutters and i know i am not supposed to check my pulse but i do sometimes just to check exactly what is going on for real. It can feel like it's fluttering but upon checking your pulse it may not be fluttering or doing anything, might just be a 'feeling' as such. When i feel flutterings in my chest i am getting the ?PAC's or PVC's or whatever they are, feels, in my pulse, that my heart is irregular now and then. It will be beating ok for a couple of beats and then i have a quicker beat than the rest, then normal again, then another quicker one or two, just like ectopics only not as strong at all. Is this what you are having?xx

I know, i don't like them either, and this is when i started looking up about PAC's and PVC's and the way that these are explained on the net, mistake i know, is how they feel to me. They feel like mini ectopic heart beats in my pulse but not as prominent in my chest, just like a fluttering and sometimes i feel it in my neck too. It has woken me up on more than one occation i can tell you, and it took me ages to get back off, i coughed and turned over and then they came back again. This went on for three hours before i got up. Then they seemed to go but then they come back. Not nice at all. But i think it is just like a little quickened beat that just keeps happening. Where as with the big ectopics they give you a right whack and you feel it all over and it may just be one, these are smaller and repetative. I understand as i have them too and i too wish they would just go away and leave me alone.xx

Hi girls,
not sure if it's the same thing that you're describing Cazza but I also get flutters.
Actually I find that I seem to get a range of different irregular beats just lately & now a classic ectopic beat doesn't seem to freak me out as much as the other weird stuff!
Besides ectopics I get brief quivering sensations, a feeling like my heart is twitching, runs of chaotic beats & short runs where my heart seems to speed up & slow down not related to breathing or activity.
These all only seem to last for afew seconds but really scare me. I can understand ectopics but I don;t really understand what's going on with these weird beats. I hink maybe when I've had a lot of ectopics my heart is just very sensitive to stuff & gets ' irritated ' easily.
Sometimes during the pause of the ectopic it feels like my heart is quivering or shaking for a spilt second. Is this the kindof thing you're getting too?
I see the cardiologist in a couple of weeks & I'm going to try & get all my questions answered while I'm there! These are very hard to deal with & create a lot of anxiety for people, if you already have a tendency to be anxious or already suffer from health anxiety it can be even harder to cope with. Reply #5 - Aug 5^th, 2007, 7:06am Hi Seffie thats exactly it its like my heart is quivering and takes a while to beat properly again was having a lovely day shopping today when this happened again and i just wanted to go home and i cried my eyes out these ones just scare me so much!
