Is this good?
May 14th, 2010, 12:07pm

The last time I wrote on here I had had a 24 hour holter test and had not had much in the way of palps for a couple of weeks.
That was about a month ago now (approx) and i've only had a few noticable ones since then, including a HUGE one a few ago which I managed to almost ignore  Smiley
Anyway, after a month of waiting I got a letter from my doctors' surgery today saying that they now have a copy of the report and that they have made an appointment for me to go and discuss the results in 2 weeks time. I keep worrying that it will be bad news... so has anyone else who has had a holter test had this kind of letter? (i'm UK based by the way) or is it just the formal way it is done?
I don't know why but I think I was expecting a letter saying 'all ok' so it's making me slightly nervous thinking about them wanting to discuss it.. is this the routine over here?
On the other hand though, if it was serious they would call me straight in wouldn't they?
Funnily enough they have popped back up this eve... got to laugh sometime eh  Roll Eyes

Sorry for the downbeat post, i've actually been feeling ok but I just want the next 2 weeks to hurry up so I can stop worrying about it and get back to living my life again!

Hi Qgirl,

I am also in the UK and have had a holter so the system will be the same for both of us. When I took my 24 hour tape back to the hospital I wasn't told when I would receive the results and I just waited until the weekend was over and went in to have a chat with my GP. The cardiologist had obviously checked the tape (and the echo that I also had) and had written on my notes (computerised notes) that there was no evidence of any heart disease and that my results were normal. My GP had access to those notes because it is the same system (NHS) so I didn't actually wait until the cardiologist had written to me.

Anyway, if there were any significant findings on your ECG the cardiologist would probably not have passed those results to your GP to deal with... in 2 weeks time. He would not have passed you back to your GP at all, he would have called you back in so that more tests can be performed. Seeing as how that's not the case and the doctor's obviously feel you are fully capable of waiting 2 weeks, I think it's safe to say your results are going to be normal.

I also received a letter from the cardiologist saying everything was normal about a month later.

Anyway, good luck you're perfectly healthy!
