Exercise and ectopics question for RLR
Dec 16th, 2010, 6:03pm

Hello all I am new on here and have lots of unanswered questions.  I have had skipped beats or ectopics for probably 2-4 months now and it is so scary, anyway on to my concern.  I have noticed after a good fast walk or exercise I get some ectopics.  I have looked on the internet and found it is not good to have these during or after exercise.  I just wanted your opinion or anyone with some info.  Again I have scared the heck out of myself.  I enjoy walking on my treadmill but now I am afraid. Help!! These ectopics are horrible. Thanks ahead for your info.

Dont google your symptoms, it will only scare you. You can have benign palpitations at any time, even during exercise and it could be absolutely nothing at all. I hope you feel better.

Yup again stay off Google. If you're worried go see a doctor as they'll look at your symptoms in context and not isolation.  Google will tell you the 10 bad things it could be and ignore the 1000 'normal' ailments.

Having palps whilst exercising means nothing, they become of concern when present with other symptoms such as crushing chest pain, passing out etc etc.

They are accually are known to occur more after exercise in alot of people. When the heart is slowing down the extra beats have time to "sneak" in so to speak. But it is perfectly normal to have them during exercise also. I have had skips during panic attacks when my heart is racing, now THATS scary, but they are still meaningless, a cause of extra adrenaline and vagus nerve irritation. Please don't google about these things, lot of scary inaccurate information. If your heart is healthy, these pose zero risk.

Just made a post about this myself!  Had to delete it, I should really look properly before I post lol.  Undecided

I've not so long ago finished exercising and I've been getting LOADS.  Probably the worst it's ever been for me and it's making me panic a lot.  First time it's happend like this so I think maybe I over did it!  I really don't wanna become scared of exercise again but they're so so scarey.

Just try your best to relax bubsie, whats happening is perfectly normal. Distract yourself if your can because the more you panic or get nervous the more andrealine flows and the more palps you will have. They will pass I promise, I've had them come on for hours but they always eventually stop.

Okay, don't confuse what you're reading with the benign nature of your palpitation events. It is very common for laypersons to make inappropriate associations between their symptoms and those being discussed in medical literature. Symptoms are not universal by any means whatsoever.

Your palpitation events are not originating from within the heart at all and do not represent the sort of pathological arrhythmias which constitute cardiac insufficiency.

You're just fine. Benign palpitations are very common while exercising.
