ectopics and tiredness for RLR or others
Jan 1st, 2011, 12:15am

Dear RLR or anybody that has an idea, I had my first ectopic beat at the age of 17, I am now 47, I was in bed reading a comic and suddenly
I get this thump on my chest , I knew instantly that  it was my heart  ,it lasted only a second but at that
Time i realized that it was something I might get again in the future but did not know what it was .My life went on as normal
Without any extra beats for the next 7 years, meanwhile I was involved in lot of sport activities
And forgot about it , occasionally I would recall that episode and think that it was nothing  and would never happen again.I then started drinking lot of coffee  and wine with meals  and one day when I was 24 I suddenly get a run of  irregular heart beats  which lasted about 20 seconds , it made me bend double I was sure I was going to die there and then , the irregular heart beats stopped after a drink of water.
I will never know what type of beats they were pvc, pac, atrial fibrillation or svt  ? but I felt certain that
If they would have lasted any longer I would have passed out and died. After the episode I went to ER
Tests were done  but found nothing wrong with me. I did not know how to explain what I went thru at that time.Eventually I read something about ectopic beats in a magazine and realized that’s what I had and stopped drinking caffeine products and alchol. It made it better but no eliminated the extra beats.
Since the age of 24 I had them regularly , despite the sport I was involved they just got worse as I got older but not as bad as  the episode  when I was 24. Last year  whilst on a bike run I get the same
thing, a run of irregular heart beats that made me bend over for maybe 10 sec. This time i did not go to ER. Since then I get more palpitations
More anxiety, more feeling tired and feeling lethargic which I associated with something wrong
with my heart although I am not having irregular heart beats when this happens.
I had numerous test  ECG , echo, calcium scoring , blood work, holter monitor etc.
I spent a small fortune on private doctors over the last 10 years as I could not wait for the NHS  (UK) and all the tests were good
Except the holter monitor  which detected PVC, PAC, SVT  ,and runs of PAC ,all the cardiologists I have seen   said that since my heart
was in good condition there was nothing to worry about the irregular beats.
Although all the cardiologists I have seen  said that the echo is normal the report says that I have a trivial Mitral regurgitation and  my valve is thin and mobile and I wonder if this is the cause of all the above
symptoms . I even went to the length of buying a 12 leads  ECG machine second hand (my wife think I am mad) and test myself when I feel bad but all comes out normal. The weirdest thing now is that for the last 6 months I get tired more easily and at same time feel  sleepy.
I need to seat down to rest after walking about or doing some normal
house cleaning  then as I rest I get more irregular heart beats. I never had this before.
My cholesterol  is very good,I am 1.77 m and 71 kg.I had 3 lots of blood tests done in the last 6 months all normal.
What else can I do ? help.
Happy new year and good health to everyone  Smiley
