You'll be fine, Carol. Realize that all side-effects noted by patients taking new medications during the clinical phase of research are noted, regardless of whether they have been determined to produce the side-effect. Also understand that these medications can do you no permanent harm, nor cause you to suffer any type of crisis event. It's also important to note that this drug has been around for quite a while now and there are no reports of catastrophic events as a consequence of taking the medication.

Trazadone is a very safe medication and while in practice, I regularly prescribed it as a sleep hypnotic for some of my patients.

Take care not to paint yourself into a corner by seeking evaluation from your doctor and subsequently developing a fear of the very medication prescribed by your doctor to help relieve symptoms. This is very common among persons with anxiety and they are constantly vigilent to any signs of potential danger, which in actuality doesn't exist.

Again, this medication is safe and will not harm you. Take as directed by your physician.

Best regards,

Rutheford Rane, MD (ret.)
