2 questions any help appreciated.

I doesn't ALWAYS happen but I'm noticing it more often lately.

When bending over I feel ectopics sometimes.
And when I make a sudden jump for something. Like say a vase is falling off a table and you jump to catch it. Why do I feel them then? It's kind of unnerving and I wonder if it's disease related.  I am working on battling my fears and overcoming this. Just another speed bump I suppose.

My second question:

Sunday I was in the car all day picking up our new adoptee a Welsh Corgi. It was a 2.5 hr ride there and back. I had to do a lot of twisting and bending to keep the dog from running under my husband's legs while he drove.

Anyway, that night I had a horrible pain come up. It felt like it was along my right shoulder blade in the back then up to my neck and down my right arm. At one point it seemed to migrate to my left arm.

I asked my husband to rub it and it was quite a painful experience.

I was in the dentist office reading a magazine. I came across an article that I am kicking myself for reading. It was about a woman who had a similar pain and ended up finding out it was heart attack. She also felt dizzy, so much so that at one point she had to sit down to alleviate it. Now I'm worried I had one.  Undecided

Sitting down in a recliner did help the pain. A hot shower alleviated the pain momentarily. Finally I went to bed. I woke up a few hours later pain free.

Any ideas or help to get this ridiculous thought out of my head will be so much appreciated.

I can't read news or magazine articles about medical issues anymore, because the reaction you had is the reaction I always have. They are a huge trigger for my health anxiety.

It's the same as Googling.. don't do it.

When something startles me, like a vase falling off the table, my heart will start thunking away for a bit. It's probably just my body reacting to that temporary moment of fear.

I'm sure everything is ok, hang in there Smiley

Bumping because im in a bad place today with the pain.

It's come back today and I'm convinced I'm having a heart attack. the pain started around 10am. It hurts when I move and breathe in. I guess i feel a little tight.


Someone please help.  :'( :'(
I am so scared right now. every time i feel like im calming down i rocket right back up.

Oh today, the pain is in crawling around my side. And up into my chest just about my breast.

Sorry to hear you are suffering.  I do relate......all of us who struggle with health anxiety do!

When I read your first post, you mentioned that the pain subsided with a hot shower and by sitting in a recliner.  It sounds more like a structural issue......muscle tension or something similar.  Symptoms from a heart attack wouldn't be helped by those things, right?  Hang in there!

Well 5 hours later I'm better.

I had my husband rub my back which helped. then I took a bath which helped more. and have become practically pain free.

I laid down for a bit with my son to watch some 90's batman cartoons. Now I'm sitting up again on my couch and the pain is creeping back up along with some noticed chest tightness/pressure.

I must not go down that road again. I am so tired of this. I just told my husband today that my logical mind KNOWS that I am ok and that I have like a 1% chance of a heart attack in the next 10 years. EKGs clear. CBCs clear. I have birthed 3 kids.
But my...conditioning, i guess you could say says otherwise and is darn hard to beat down and shut up.

Okay, all of the physical motions preceding the palpitation events are capable of inducing the outcome because of the involvement of the diaphragm muscles that play a role here, as well as influence upon the GI tract in the way of the pneumogastric nerve.

Nothing of your description suggests that a problem of any kind is evident.

I want, neigh, NEED my life back. so badly. But my mind chatter and catastrophic tendencies just wont. shut. up.

Well then either invite it through the door or chase it away by force.

But standing in the middle is simple resignation to vulnerability. If you want your life back, simply stand up and take it. Nothing in the real sense is holding you from doing so. What more could you have to lose by comparison to what you believe is at grave risk already?

Touche RLR! Very very valid point.

Can I ask what your suggestion would be to help pad yourself from the catastrophic thinking patterns and therefore strengthening yourself to continue on the path of returning to life?

My problem is, as i've said, is my rational mind knows I am ok. But I allow my conditioning to say otherwise and take control. I allow my fears and need for some semblance of control to take hold.

How would you suggest to go about retraining the mind?

Never "pad" or conceal yourself from irrational fears. Confront them head-on and use logic to unravel them, for they hold no substance or basis in reality whatsoever. You've simply become conditioned to believe in them rather than dispel them.

As I've oftentimes used the example, you no longer believe that monsters are hiding under your bed or in your closet at night because logic and reality was used to dispel such irrational fears. The same methodology is required here. You've become conditioned to fears which don't exist. When they occur, draw them promptly out into the open and break through the generalization that they impose. Force yourself to see the actual circumstances for what they truly are.

You have little else to fear by intentionally steering directly into the source of the problem and do battle. None of what you believe to be true is accurate anyway, but rather overdrawn misperceptions.

For once, take a stand and don't back down. Nothing is going to actually happen to you. There are no monsters under the bed or in your closet.
