Fast heart rate in morning

For about two weeks now I wake up with a rapid heart rate it is in the 140-160 range, same range I'm at when having a full blown panic attack. At this point I wake up and think about is "is it beating fast today" and I'm guessing that makes it happen even more. Sometimes it will also skip a beat or two.

This is not a result of a dream as I'm pretty sure the minute I wake up it's not racing it's probably 1-2 min after.

This morning I tried as best as I could to ignore it and ten minutes after I had been up it went from 130's to 105. It was at 150 to start.

Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening?

Is there anything I can do in the moment to slow it down?  I try skis breathing and on the out breath it will slow a bit, but then shoot up again a couple beats after.

Sometimes  these can escalate to hours of panic so I'm happy trying to ignore it as best as I can does help it subside.

Well, changes in blood pressure during sleep, particularly downward changes, creates a need by the body to adequately prepare you to rise from a lying position. Understand that if this did not occur, you would faint in almost every instance, or at the least feel light-headed and expeirence mild confusion. The longer you are in the suppine, or lying, position the more the body will compensate in order to make certain you can rise to your feet and perform safely.

If your blood pressure is very low when you're lying down, even when awake and you promptly stand to your feet, your body responds by increasing heart rate and blood pressure to the extent necessary.

This does not indicate the presence of a problem. What typically accelerates the heart beyond its normal response is the fear that something is not right, which naturally propels the heart as a response to epinephrine (adrenaline) in addition to any other increase already underway.
