RLR is spot on with everything he has said on this forum.  I had to visit my doctor today for issues related to the antibiotics I was taking and I told him about my palpitations.  He told me the exact same thing about the vagus nerve, verbatim, that RLR has been telling us all along.  It's very reassuring to finally find two medical professionals who I can trust!

I'm glad RLR and everyone else chimed in on this thread. I could see it scaring the pants off of some people and that concerned me. I did bother me personally, I have seen enough and talked to enough doctors to know that there is no need to give that so called "study" any merrit.

To anyone here with benign PVC's, PACS. Please don't read that and worry yourself. I have these things for years, I have finally come to terms that they are just a part of me and will be forever. I work out every day now and have totally changed my diet and I feel great. I don't let them get to me even on the occasions they occur when I'm working out. I don't fear them anymore and I have HALF as many as I used to on a regular basis. Keep positive everyone, and take "heart" to RLR's wonderful advice.

RLR,

SO I read the post above ( wish I didn't) made me scared more than ever. But I also read your post. and I was confused about one thing you said...

You keep referring to people on this site having palpatations that are coming from outside of the heart. .. from the vagus nerve.

Well I have had palpatations for 10 years. At first they were really bad.. and I was terrified. I would take an anti anxiety that would help me. Over the years they calmed down significantly ( sometimes months with none. and sometimes I'd have one or two a week ect.) .. but lately.. last 3 weeks I've been having lots a day. all day. Like maybe up to 50 -80 felt ones a day. My doctor has done the EKG's , blood test, echo, and 6 days of recorded (many) events on ECG. He told me he could see the events and that I'm having benign PVC's and that they are not dangerous. ANd I'm not going to die. But that he cannot say why suddenly they have worsened. I take no caffiene, alchohol, smoking.. drugs.. ect..

But again.. You keep saying something to the effect of palpatations that come from vagus nerve.. not the PVc's that come within the heart. My cardiologist didn't get into that detail whether they are coming from within or outside the heart.. and He said I have BENIGN PVC"s. are they different than the palpatations your speaking of from outside the heart that are so Undangerous? ..??

Now I"m starting to wonder where mine are coming from.. and that above post sure did freak me out a lot.

I am a 34 year old female. who has a lot of stress and anxiety problems. Otherwise pretty healthy. other than the PVC's of course. I am 5'5 and weigh 129lbs. :'( :'(

Benign palpitations are directly equivalent with vagus nerve-induced palpitation events. They are harmless in all regards and it is very common for persons to contemplate that their specific events are not like those in other patients and that something must be done to investigate their origin further due to the fact that they will not abate despite the fact that no cause can be identified.

Please see my detailed response to a recent posting by lmg83brown regarding the underlying reasons for such compelling drive by persons experiencing benign palpitations.

You're going to be just fine and there is nothing actually wrong with your heart whatsoever. You are in no danger of any kind.

Best regards,

Rutheford Rane, MD (ret.)
