I am very concerned about how I felt last night and very confused. I value your opinion, RLR.
First of all, I can't afford any more testing or running to the ER for my ailment. I have very poor insurance and many unpaid medical bills from seeing psychiatrists and other drs for heart palpitations, to no avail. My husband has a serious heart ailment, in fact he only has one artery to his heart and it's 85% blocked. They tried to open it three times and he almost died. Because of this he was cancelled by our health insurance co. So, I don't have a lot of resources for my health.
I will mention that I have dealt with heart palpitations for over 30 years. I have had numerous ekg's, echos and holter monitors. They never find anything wrong.
Here is the story: I went to my gynecologist recently and told her about the heart palpitations and hot/cold spells at night. She tested my hormone level and said it was very low. I had a complete hysterectomy years ago and have been on estrogen since. She upped my vivelle dot patch from .05 to .75.
I noticed last week, after I put the stronger patch on, the next day I felt irritable. I called and the nurse said maybe I had to get used to it.
Well, then last week, I got food poisoning and was very sick the whole week.
I changed my patch on Sunday morning. On Sunday afternoon I began having heart palpitations. I was sewing and they happened several times in a row. I became very upset. When I put my hand over my chest, it felt like my heart was racing. Then after I took some deep breaths, it stopped.
Mind you, my stomach was still upset and I had gerd acting up.
Last night, I was sitting at the kitchen table trying to eat, and I start getting palpitations. I felt like my heart was racing too. I also felt hot and sweaty. I also started having bad stomach reflux. I became so anxious and scared that I told my husband I wanted to go to the hospital.
He said that I was working myself up and to calm down.
I got on my computer and posted in a menopause room what was happening. People started posting for me to call 911 and go to the ER. This made me more anxious.
I then started to take deep breaths to calm down and felt much better.
RLR, you are the only one I have to ask for advice.
Can too much estrogen do this? Can gerd?
My husband thinks I made it worse when it started.
Now I am afraid of it happening again.
Thank you so much for reading my post and for your opinion.
