I get sharp shooting pains in my right temple and above my eye which my doctor says is trigeminal neuralgia.  The carbamazepine isn't doing anything.  Been reading about tn but not sure if I fit the outline - it doesn't  make pain worse to press on it, in fact it seems to help slightly, and there is no abnormal sensation. I've only been diagnosed over the phone.  It comes and goes but there doesn't seem to be a trigger at all. It is probably mostly around a 6 on a 1 - 10 scale, doesn't stop me doing things but is very unpleasant. The other day I had a really sharp sudden stab which was prob an 8 - 9  that was awful and scared me.  Anyone have any advice, please?  Thanks!
