RLR: I don't know how much more of this I can take
Oct 05th, 2012, 1:25pm

I have had intermittent episodes of palpitations for over 30 years.
I also have an anxiety problem and I have managed it fairly well.

For the last several months, I have had a return of my anxiety symptoms.  (I have had company from out of town for almost a month, and other issues). I get neck tension, have mood swings, and get hot/cold.

The past few days, I have been having heart palpitations all day and when I wake up.
It feels like a fluttering or inside thud.
I lay on my left side and I feel it close to my ribcage.
When I'm walking or standing up, it is more in my left chest area.

Last year, I had a month long event momitor, and my doctor said he found nothing wrong.  The diagnosis was mixed hypolidemia??
I have had other heart tests including holter monitors over the years that showed nothing wrong.

I thought it could be hormonal issues causing this because of the hot/cold and mood swings.
I had a total hysterectomy years ago and have been on estrogen.

The doctor upped my dose of vivelle dot from .05 to .75 three weeks ago.  The last time another doctor increased it from .05 to .75, I got palpitations like this.  This time they are more frequent.

I want to go to my primary care dr, but my husband keeps saying I shouldn't have to.

I am scared because the palpitations are happening practically non stop.

I am so scared, please give me your opinion.

Thanks

I can relate to everything you are saying. I am having what feel like palps as I am typing this. The last time I felt this way I went to the ER and was put on a monitor. I could feel the thumping and fluttering, but nothing registered on the monitor! My doctor said the ecg was completely normal!?! I could swear I felt a difference in my pulse when I was feeling the disturbances. I was told my potassium was low, given liquid potassium, and sent home with instructions. My last checkup ( about 2 months ago) revealed that my potassuim wa Grins normal, but my vitamin D is low. I was also dehydrated when I went to the ER. I don't drink enough water most of the time. I am under a great deal of stress, and that usually brings them on. They feel like they start in my left rib cage. Sometimes I will feel them in my chest area or stomach. I believe they are stress related. I also feel a sensation of gas bubbles in my left ribcage. My doctor thinks it is all related to anxiety and wants me to see a specialist. It does get very disconcerting. Hang in there. If the doctor doesn't find anything wrong with your heart, it could be anxiety. If in doubt get a second opinion. Take care.  Smiley
