RLR "breakdown" part 2
Nov 14th, 2012, 12:34pm

dear doc/sir

with regard to my post "breakdown"  (current page 2) and your helpful answer/quote......

"Both bigeminy and trigeminy are very specific cardiac arrhythmias and they occur steadily over given periods of time as a consequence of underlying conditions. They are not defined by what persons sense as a couplet or triplet."

" There is also a gross misinterpretation of the definition and a literal sense that two or three beats in succession indicate pathology."

after 5 weeks of citalopram with no positive results i was given a change of medicines and reffered to a psychologist.i had 5 weeks of 80mg beta blockers SR that appeared to make matters worse!

my normal resting heart rate at night pre beta blockers was between 56 and 60...with the BBs it would be 46/48 and 50 during the day.diastolic 65....too uncomfortable for me.the doc has since stopped them, they made no difference to my PVCs anyway

citalopram appeared to make me much worse and only hightened my anxieties over the past 5 weeks.i was receiving no effective help at all  and as a consequence i got quite ill with major bouts of anxiety and depesssion

you were absolutely right of course when you mentioned your doubts about my self diagnosis over bigemeny and trigemeny beats.

perhaps i did not make myself clear in my original post to you regarding  my interpretation of trigemeny

i do not get ectopic beats in a row with out the regular normal beats in between.what i was getting especially when stressed or using the BBs with a low heart rate was......

ectopic beat,regular beat,regular beat
ectopic beat,regular beat,regular beat
ectopic beat,regular beat,regular beat
ectopic beat,regular beat,regular beat

lets call the ectopic beat and two normal beats ONE ROUND before starting again with an another ectopic beat and two regulars

be it one round or 4 or 5 it would last only for some short seconds and come back again in perhaps a few minutes time.when my heart was super slow one night with the BBs this ectopic, normal, normal lasted for 8 "rounds" between 10 to 15 seconds and revert back to normal with the occasional  random ectopic beat

i am making some progress, thankfully, and will have the chance to set my mind at ease with the questions i will be able to ask

before i ask you my final question again on trigemeny here for the record.......i have had one clear 24 hour monitor, one with captured ectopic activity, a couple of ECGs,couple blood tests, and a resting echo,ALL came back CLEAR/NORMAL and funnily enough made no diference to my ever worsening nerves situation

so to the question on what i call "trigemeny"....... have i described trigemeny to you as one of my heart palps?it's a very scary situation when it happens.is it any more of a concern than the "regular" random single etopic beat? and do you think it would be worth my while asking my local hospital for a stress echo or would that be pushing things a little?   Smiley

just for the record my dad died 3 months shy of my age just now... a coincidence i believe, and i have no other symptoms whatsoever. my PVCs are intermittent andi am free of them for lenghty periods over the course of a day

thanks for all your help sir and i hope to leave you alone in the future
thank you
John

i would just like to add that if doctors took more time with troubled souls like myself and some members here to answer our questions with some empathy and concern for our worries the internet would not be FULL of so many troubled people.

i have tried on a number of occasions  to bring the subject up and invariably get a one sentence reply and a look as though i am half daft for my troubles
