Night-time Palpitations - triggers?
Dec 20th, 2012, 6:15am

Hi, I've had palpitations most nights, since an episode of AF which required hospital treatment, about a year ago.
These episodes typically occur between 2.00-4.00 a.m. and wake me up. They seem to occur when I am sleeping on my side, the right side being the worse.
I stop them by rolling onto my back and, sometimes using the Valsalva Manoeuvre as recommended by the Arrhythmia Alliance of the UK. I have been prescribed Flecainide and am on 100mg per day.
The 101 has been most helpful and I have 2 questions:
1) is there a likely cause/trigger suggested a) by the timing of the episodes and b) by the body orientation?
2) As a benign condition, should I try to reduce and then stop, the Flecainide? (I have now stopped this, with no ill-effects)

Thanks,
Tom.
