I'm so scared. Again
Jan 30th, 2012, 5:17am

Hi all,
I use to be a regular on this board. I've had increasing PVC's and PAC's with bigeminy ever since my ablations for IST in 2003. I am a 42 year old female, and I think as I am getting closer to menopause, the palps are increasing. Last year I decided that the palps were interfering with my life too much, so my EP put me on Flecainide. The palps decreased, but I got Afib. I immediately went off the drug, but my fear of Afib really ramped up. I had several really good months on zero meds. Then late in the year they started acting up again. About Jan 2 I got some sort of cold/flu with lots of coughing and congestion. The palps really flared up and over the past 2 days they've been awful. With any movement at all I get extra beats, fast beats, skips, you name it. Last night I finally gave in and took a Xanax because they were so bad I could not sleep. The Xanax seemed to at least quiet them so that they didn't feel as numerous or as forceful. I feel at my wits end. I need some reassurance and some coping skills that others have used. I try to get my mind off these things, but I'm really stuggling.

I'm so sorry for what you're going through.  I can tell you that I take Xanax, too, and it really helps.  When I get the "adrenaline rushes" followed by palps, the Xanax takes those away, so the palps go away too.  Don't feel ashamed to take it if you need it, I know I do.  My palps have been helped a lot by quitting alcohol and caffeine and avoiding MSG and artificial sweeteners.  I drink a lot of herbal tea with hawthorn berries in it and that seems to help.  I hope that yours resolve soon.

Hi ,  My name is Don and I know exactly what you are going through.  Mine just started really about 2 weeks ago.  I was on a low dose HBP meds and I woke up one morning with horrible PVC's.  I have never experieienced them before and I though I was having a heart attack.  ER tests were all find but the palps kleep coming back.  I can't sleep at night and my Doc prescribed Lorazapan. I have only taken 4 pills and I don't like them already.  I don't want to get hooked on them.  My problem is it is 99% in my head and I can';t stop worrying about them.  I went to th4 gym with an hour of exercise and no problems.  Instant stress test.  Problem is it is affecting my daily life and it's almost unbearable.  I don't no where to turn.  Ican't keep running to the ER to be told nothing is wrong.  I'm trying to self help myself with relaxation technicques but no luck so far.  I too am looking like you.  Good luck my friend!
